Da Slimmie's Diary Episode 1 : "Friendship"
Yea, weird how i woke up this morning and the word
"Friendship" keeps ringing in my head. I am an individual
who never trust myself when it comes to keeping friends for
long ( Not that i'm a bad person though), the issue is always
that i have always had a word l keyed into that no friendship
ever lasts forever, and i have always had a cause to break up
my friendship with anyone whenever i begin to feel
uncomfortable about the person. An adage in Yoruba says:
'Ogun omode o le shere fogun odun', but my problem now is,
why should this, why can't i have a friend that i will keep
forever. Even though my mum has proved that adage wrong
by keeping a particular friend ( Aunty Moli) for such a long
time that i sometimes wonder how they were able to do it, this
sometimes have me question myself as to why i found it
difficult to maintain such loyalty with the few friends that i
have met during the cause of my growing. I remember quite a
number of friends i have had and have had to break up with,
due to issues that are not even suppose to be an hitch with
acquaintances not to say close friends. Now why i am writing
this now is that this thought coming to me today has always
been and i have always tried to ignore it. For some reasons i
have been able to keep a particular friend for over five years
without a break and all has been so smooth, great and it has
really been a roller coaster ride with us, though we have not
been that perfect, but i can't remember if we even ever had an
argument and had to keep malice over 2hrs, but every now
and then that evil thought comes to me screeching 'How long
more have you guys got to be together'. This thought always
gives me the chill and it really hunts me, so today i decided to
answer the thought but saying out loud "Even if we have just
one day left before we break up our friendship, I want to
make the most of it and enjoy it while it last without breaking
the GOLDEN RULES". Now lets talk about few things that
has been the secrets of the long term friendship. It might help
you too. (Bukky, in case you see this, don't let your head
swell ooo) The Seven Secret To Friendship (GOLDEN
RULES): 1. Understanding: Despite differences in age, size
and height, always made a pact to understand yourselves, make
it a point of duty to have each other's back even in the other
party's absence. Understand each others moods and actions 2.
Respect: Yes, even if you are three years or more older than
your friend, never disrespected each other in any way. This
applies to your individual opinions and decision makings 3.
Communication: Always make sure that you keep in touch as
much as you can ( Always make out time to talk on the phone
at least once in a day), also try to open up on issues and talk
about your differences. 4. Keep to your words: One thing that
should always be certain is that both of you should make
massive effort not to disappoint each other at any point in
time. Let your words always be followed be the accurate
action, so if you say you are going to do something for the
other party, don't let anything stop you from fulfilling you
promises 5. Trust: Trust each other enough to tell him/her
anything, and let them also trust you enough to do same,
never have a cause or give a chance to doubt one another 6.
Listen to each other: Yes, you must both be good listeners
when it comes to issues surrounding you. When she/he needs
to talk you have to listen and vice versa 7. Know that you
can't always be the only friend and can't be together always:
You will have to be in a different place at a point and so does
your friend, so always know that he/she will also have other
friends, hobbies or even career, so don't be a stuck up friends,
give your friend some space when the need arises Yes, i have
been able to vomit the words that have stuck up my throat for
so long. PS: I hope
you guys enjoyed this and put it to practice Do have a great
time guys!
