How else can we more clearly express the very deep contrast and irony between the level of greed of our thieving ruling elites; and our own basic needs? Just yesterday the FGN announced at the 19th National Economic Summit [19th NES] through the Vice president that it has earmarked ‘a whole N15bn’ [deep pun and irony intended] for disbursement to FARMERS through the Bank of Agriculture as support for the 2013 farming season! A whooping N15bn??? Less than the combined amount so far spent on erecting the official residence of the Vice President [N16bn]? Just N5bn more than the amount allocated for the care of the Presidential Fleet [all of 10 planes] in the 2013 Federal Budget? And in fact less than the amount of money at N27bn stolen by just one senior official of a public service pension scheme? And just N2bn less than the amount ‘donated’ by the FGN for the more than 2 million Nigerians affected by the 2012 flood disaster? Let us equally not forget that this amount [N15bn for 10 million registered farmers] is just 10% of the annual budget of the NASS [of just 469 members + not more than 3,000 staff]! Indeed these our gluttonous treasury looting ruling class does care for us very much! It is up to us to take collective action, seize the space created by the crisis tearing them apart, and proceed to take our destiny into our own hands and TAKE BACK NIGERIA!
